We Didn't Even Celebrate Easterween...

A week or so ago I checked online to see when Trick Or Treat night was around here. (Where we live, every township holds Trick Or Treat on a different night) Don't get me started on what a STUPID idea I think that is....

The schedule said October 31st. So I invited over some friends who have two boys! We were going to have a little costume party and Trick Or Treat! I was so excited! It was the boys first Halloween and I wanted to do it up right.. I planned all my goodies, treats, scary desserts, bobbing for apples, etc.

Friday morning I see a status of a few friends on facebook that mentions Trick Or Treating that evening. Hummmm.....??????

I go back online and see that I had viewed the 2008 schedule! OH NO! Panic strikes my nervous system and I thought I was going to cry....

Our friends had skipped their Thursday night Trick Or Treat night to join us on Saturday!!!!!!! My kids did not really know what they were missing, but I knew the other boys would. Not only had I ruined my boys first Halloween, but I had also ruined it for others. ** much beating up of self for the next few hours to come**

A old friend suggested hiding candy in the house and letting the kids hunt for it Easter style. I LOVED that idea and decided to change the Halloween Party to a Easterween Party!

When I told Phil about our Easterween celebration he gave me "the look".

I thought if he understood the definition of Easterween it would all begin to make perfect since...

EASTERWEEN: Jesus died, defeated the devil and rose again on the 3rd day. The day is celebrated by dressing up in festive costumes, bobbing for apples and hunting for candy that was hidden in your living room by the Great Pumpkin.

See... it makes perfect since.

As much since as any other traditions..

Oh I kid... I truly love traditions...

Then I suggested that maybe we should hide candy and a little money... Ya know, just to help the boys start saving for therapy and all.

Phil was not so sure about Easterween, but he has known me long enough to understand that once I get my mind settled on something, it is near impossible to reel me back in.

So we were all ready for first annual Easterween Party!

Then Friday night my friends son got sick. So they had to cancel. :(

Then on Saturday afternoon the boys both got sick. The kind of sick that causes a child to get a look of panic on his face when loud explosions start happening in his car seat. Yes, when you have twins that means DOUBLE THE EXPLOSIONS! It's like they look at each other and say " Ready, Set, EXPLODE!!!!".

Easterween quickly turned into Pooperween and the rest is History.

Imagine Pooperween coupled with children who woke up at 4:30 when they heard daddy getting ready for church.... who are very sick, cranky & crying for Tootsie Rolls for breakfast and you will have the perfect image of me on this fine Sunday morning.

I hope Y'all all had a safe and Happy Halloween. If you happened to miss it, your welcome to come over next weekend... I think we will be Easterweening it up around here.

Oh nooooo... I hope they are feeling well soon! I've never heard of towns choosing to celebrate on different dates. Moms have enough to keep track of, right?

Easterween actually sounds like a good idea to me ~ Caleb was terrified of several costumes he saw as we walked around last night...
I pray that Pooperween is over quickly at your house!

You were funny before, but I have to say, you are funnier now that you have the boys to write about. I think Pooperween is hysterical.

Girl, hope yo don't mind that I laughed at your plight. =) I'm sure you will have many more days like that and they will NEVER be convenient! Good news… the boys will have NO idea what they missed and will think you are a genius for the random candy-giving next weekend. Hopw everyone feels better soon! =)
