Orphan Sunday

Today is Orphan Sunday.

You may be wondering what the heck that is.

It's a day dedicated to bringing awareness to the 143 million children around the world without a family to love them.

As Christians we have been called to care for the orphan. Maybe the Lord has not called you to adopt, but we have all been called to care.

There are many ways you can care for the orphan.

Pray for them.

Financial support.

Make a donation to a family who is adopting.

Visit them.

Send clothing or much needed supplies to a orphanage.

Help support a medical team that provides medication or surgery that would otherwise be impossible for a orphan to receive.

Be a foster parent.

Adopt.

The Lord has a special place in His heart for children. I have never sensed His presence more than when my kids shout "AMEN" at the dinner table... or Zachary shushes daddy during bedtime prayers so he can offer up a prayer of his own.... in the SWEETEST gibberish I have ever heard. (Of course ending with a shout of "AMEN!")

If your looking for an opportunity to give, here are a few of the many reputable options out there.

America World Adoption Agency

Cure International

No Hands But Ours

If you are not already involved in the Lords call to the orphan, consider asking the Lord what your part looks like.

Mark 9:37 "Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me.
